REPRESENTATIVE CASES

The following is a sample of cases that Edward E. Wallace has handled:

  •      Tosco v. New Hampshire | $5,000,000 Represented Tosco Corporation against New Hampshire Ins. Company in a bad faith action for failure to provide defense or indemnity for a products liability claim. At trial, the jury awarded $455,000 in compensatory damages and $18,200,000 in punitive damages plus interest. (The punitive damage award was subsequently reduced by the trial judge to $4,550,000.)
  •      Doe v. Doe Oil Company | $2,500,000; A major oil company exercised an option to terminate a multi-year contract after only nine months and was sued for fraud and breach of contract.  The case settled after the court ordered the defendant to turn over certain e-mails on the very unusual ground that the crime fraud exception to the attorney-client privilege applied.
  •      Doe v. Doe Financial Institution | $ 1,000,000
    An executive was fired after many years of excellent performance and filed a wrongful termination action.
  •      Doe v. Doe Attorney | $1,000,000
    A client that settled a wrongful termination claim for more than $1,000,000 sued a prior counsel for malpractice in failing to make appropriate government claims which would have allowed an even greater recovery in the underlying action.
  •      Unocal v. Doe | $800,00
    The owner of a service station brought an action for negligence and products liability arising from the puncture of an underground storage tank resulting in extensive soil contamination.
  •      Doe v. Doe insurance company | $1,000,000 in total.
     Multiple individual plaintiffs brought actions for fraud and unfair completion in connection with the sale of Universal Life Insurance policies.
  •      Doe v. Doe Insurance Agency | $600,000
     A company which was denied coverage for a large personal injury claim sued an insurance agent for negligent failure to obtain insurance.
  •      Doe v. Doe Landowner and City | $115,000
    A lady sustained a significant injury in trip and fall accident caused by a tree stump left in a sidewalk
  •      Doe v. Doe Company | $225,000
    An executive sued a former employer for defamation.
